My trip to Nova Scotia (cont.)

I had too many pictures in my last post, and had to keep reorganizing them..so I decided to just start a new one for my trip post.
Overall it was a pretty good trip.
It was so sad leaving our puppy..my husband may or may not have teared up a bit..haha
So we got in Tuesday night ns time...and visited with the kids for a bit...then pretty much just went to bed.
Wednesday was a busy day...we had the funeral home stuff in the afternoon and evening.
It was nice to see all our family there. Oh, so here's a story for ya.haha. So I was standing outside of the room we had at the funeral home, with my husband, looking obiviously prego. And this older man from church, who was there for other reasons, came up to me and was like "Miss Ehler" and I was like actually its Mrs.Nelson now, and introduced Norm. So this guy goes on to tell Norm how he knows me from way back..and that he could tell him stories about me. Norm assured him that he knows everything about me, and this guy was like I doubt it. So then it was way akward, and we were like ok..see ya later. Norm was like he is the most offensive guy I have ever met. So then..when we came back in the evening...Norm came with my dad..and they got there before me. Norm and my dad ran into this guy again, and he says to Norm "if you knew the things I know about your wife, you might have thought twice before marrying her". I'd like to know what this guy thinks he knows about me...This really upset Norm, and I guess he just walked away. And then the guy goes to my dad "those Alberta boys, taking advantage of our East Coast girls. Ummmm...last time I checked..im the one who moved out west and decided to marry Norm. I just thought it was way uncalled for..especially considering what else we were trying to deal with at the time.
Anyhow...Thursday morning was my grandpa's funeral. It was a very nice service. He worked for the government, so they had honor guard..I think thats what its called...all these guys dressed up in uniform lining the steps as you walked into the church. It was a more uplifting funeral than I expected. I sang "Jesus Savior, Pilot Me" with my cousin on guitar and with him doing harmony. It turned out really good. I just kept thinking how much I wished my grandfather could be there to see his grandchildren speak, and sing and stuff. He would have been so proud. Norm assures me that he was there though. I had to sit in the front row of the church with my cousins who were doing readings and stuff. So I held it together pretty good through the whole service. But during the last song, which was "How great thou art"... the family had to walk out of the church, and as soon as I had Norm at my side, I totally broke down. Everyone on the way out of the church was a total blur. I think up until that point, I had tried to keep it together for my moms sake. And with all the excitment of flying home on such short notice, I hadnt let it hit me. Anyhow..my grandfather wants his ashes burried at sea. So we're waiting to do that. After the funeral all the family went back to my grandfathers house. Its sooooo sad. He lived there for over 40 years, but never owned the place. He's been paying rent on it all this time!! When his landlord died, he had in his will that Bill was to be given the first option to buy, but at tax assessment price. Which is way less than its worth, so the estate guys wouldnt sell it to him. They've given us till June 1st to get all his stuff out. Its so stressful! There is sooooooo much stuff in that house!!
Anyhow..the rest of our trip went well. We went frenchy's shopping, it was Norms first time going since we dont have it out here. We went to the beach one day. Went down to Chebucto Head. Visited with family. And looked at land for sale. I think Norm enjoyed NS even more this time:) We have an amazing secret..that I cant wait to tell!! ahh..I just have to wait one more month...so keep checking back:)
So here's some pics from our trip....

My Grandpa.

Well..in a matter of hours I will be getting on a plane, with my husband and flying to Nova Scotia!! As exciting as I am about it, its a bit sad too. My grandpa passed away yesterday morning. Im so happy for him, cause I know he's in a better place, and is with his wife again. So yea, we get there today, and we're staying till next Tuesday. Should be fun:)

Here's a few pics I have of my grandpa from the last year...I have to say that he was looking pretty good for 93 years old!!

And here's his obituary...
MARTIN, William Patrick "Bill" - Passed away on Monday, April 28, 2008, in the Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII, Halifax. A son of the late Florence (Soward) and Thomas Martin, Bill was born January 29, 1915. He was a lifelong resident of Armdale and was at home on the waters of the Northwest Arm and Atlantic Ocean. He served his country during the Second World War as a wireless operator in the Royal Canadian Navy, on ships including the HMCS Restigouche. Bill had a passion for sports, especially rowing, paddling, hockey, sailing, and he loved walking in the woods, hunting and gardening. He could be seen sculling his rowing shell on the waters of the Northwest Arm into his mid eighties. Bill worked for Customs Canada in many capacities including Registrar of Shipping. He was a lifetime member of the Armdale Yacht Club where he sailed for many years and held executive positions including two terms as Commodore. He sailed in serveral ocean races including nine Marblehead races, and several Newport to Bermuda Races. He was a mentor for many young sailors, and was proud to lead the organizing committee of the first Tall Ships visit to Halifax in 1984. Bill returned to the sport of rowing in the 1980s and helped revive the Halifax Rowing Club. Throughout his life, Bill competed and won many rowing regattas such as Cogswell Harbour Championships in the 1930s, and would later compete at the Head of Charles River Regatta in Boston, Mass., in his seventies. During one such visit to Boston in the 1980s, Bill was scouted by the Ralph Lauren modeling agency and appeared as a Ralph Lauren model in national fashion magazines. Bill and his wife Angela enjoyed their camp in Dean, Musquodoboit Valley, where they spent countless hours gardening and walking in the summers, and cross-country skiing in the winters. They spent many winters in Florida together with family and friends. He was predeceased by wife, Angela (Vaughan). Surviving are his sisters, Irene (Jeff Goode), Mary (Murphy), Joan (Murphy); daughters, Pat and husband Brian Church, Halifax; Peggy and husband Keith Taylor, Wellington; and Jeanne and husband David Ehler, Hubbards; grandchildren, Jonathan (Rachael), Chris, Tim (Penny) and Andrew Church, Ariel (Norm Nelson), Jordan, Hannah, Caleb and Tara Ehler; and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Kathleen (Bailly) and Florence (DeBelie); brothers George, Edward, Thomas and Clarence, and infant brother Thomas. His greatest love was his family. He had a full and exciting life and retold his many wonderful experiences with passion at family gatherings. The family wish to thank RJF Home Care, especially Charles Spurr his long-time care worker, and the staff at Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII, where Bill spent the last four months of his life under their watchful, kind and compassionate care. Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Funeral mass will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Armdale. Update on the last month..

I didnt realize how long its been since I updated!! I donno where to start.lol

I guess first of all..although im pretty sure you all know by now...we're having a baby girl!!:) She almost didnt show us..again!! haha. She had her butt wedged down in my pelvis, and didnt want to move. But then at the last min she did a flip and showed us a full butt shot. I have to admit that im pretty excited about it. I would have been happy either way. But my mom's neighbour had a girl a year ago, and gave me a TON of pretty much brand new baby stuff. So its nice to know that I dont really need to buy any girls clothing now for at least a year. Now we just need to work on deciding on a name. We had our boy name picked out, but we're finding girl a bit harder. At least we have 85 more days to decide! I cant believe just how soon its coming though! I have to admit that im starting to get just a bit scared about the whole labor process..lol This little girl has been moving around like crazy this week, more so than ever! Its so neat. I was laying on the couch with the phone on my stomach yesterday, and she kept trying to kick it off, it was so cute!
So I guess almost 2 weeks ago now...we went away to Canmore for Norms birthday weekend!! Norms brother Shawn and his wife Dana came with us. It was pretty fun:) Our hotel turned out to not be as nice as it looked online though..haha. So we ended up just staying one night instead of 2. It was sooooo hot in there we had to sleep with the door open, and no blankets on us. Since it was hard to sleep, we got up early and went for an early morning hike. It was the same hike I did with my sister in laws in the fall, but surprisingly found it more easy this time..haha. Who knew that 6months pregnant i'd be in better shape..haha. Then after our hike we went and did some window shopping in downtown Canmore. Here's some pics from our weekend adventure..

So Sunday April 13th was my baby's 23rd birthday! He's so old! hahaha. We had a nice relaxing day at his parents place. I made him an ice cream cake from scratch, it was very yummy:) We had a family bbq, it was such nice weather too! Like 20C out! I got Norm a new bike helmet. Here's a pic of him modeling his present, and him with his cake.

Last weekend...we got like 30cms of snow!! I was sooooo disgusted!! I went from wearing capris to work to having to get all bundled up again..im not impressed. My winter coat isnt gonna do up over my belly for much longer, so the stupid snow better go away soon, and not come back!!
So Norm and I have been thinking and praying alot lately about what we're doing with our lives, and where we want to be in the future. More and more I want to move back to Nova Scotia. I think its really starting to hit me that im going to be having a baby away from my family. This will be my parents first grandchild, and they'll only get to see her like once a year. It kills me to think about it. So the option of moving back to Nova Scoita is something that we've been seriously praying about. The only thing Norms really worried about, aside from being away from his family, is getting a good job. So if anyone knows of any good jobs in NS, fill me in!! We've been looking online, but there's not much. He's done sales, and house renovations before. He's pretty much up for anything that pays good though..lol. He would eventually like to try to get on the fire department though, but until then:)
Speaking of Nova Scotia..if things keep going the way they're going right now, we could be back to visit within the next month. As exciting as that would be for me, it wouldnt be for a happy reason:( My grandpa isnt doing good at all right now. He's been in the Veterans Hospital since Christmas. When I decided to come back the other month, I just felt that I needed to. Its weird cause that was the last time my grandpa was healthy. He's had pneumonia for the last month, and he's not getting better. He hasnt been eating, and has to be on oxygen..so its kinda a waiting game now. I'd miss him a ton, but when I really think about it, he is 93, and has missed his wife like crazy for the last 4 years, so if its his time, i'd be happy for him.

So..what is one of my posts without a cute puppy pic..haha. Here's my Rocky puppy destorying his new favorite toy. Norm bought him this rubber dog to chew, thinking that it wouldnt make a mess. Little did he know that it was full of stuffing..haha.

Anyhow..I should go pack. Im going to my sister in laws tomorrow night to babysit her almost 5 month old twins till Saturday night..all by myself, since Norm has a fire fighting course. Wish me luck!!:)

Back to work and real life..

So now that March Break is over with, its back to reality..and work. This has been the longest week ever!! I cant believe that its only Wednesday!! It so feels like it should be Friday!!
Im also not used to getting up early. I was used to sleeping in, and napping whenever I wanted last week..haha.
Last Thursday, Norms brother Shawn, his wife Dana and their kids came to visit! It was way fun! Their kids are soooooo cute!!! Norm took Taylor to the Fire Department.
Here's a cute pic..

And here's Averi playing with Uncle Norm and Rocky.

So i've been having a lot of pain the last week. I figured it was just the baby stretching me out. But then on the weekend, I noticed the baby wasnt moving AS much, and started to get worried. But I didnt wanna be one of those people who runs to the doctor for everything. Monday afternoon, I had slight spotting, so that was enough to make me see a doctor. The dr's office was closed, so Norm took me to the ER. They hooked me up to a fetal heart rate monitor, and I had to lay there for almost an hour, clicking a button if I felt the baby move. It started to move a bit, mostly cause they were pressing on my stomach soooo hard! haha It took them a while to find the heart rate, which super scared me! But once they found it, it was good. So they made me come back yesterday to see my doctor. I got to have my cervex checked, what fun..haha. She said that im just stretching, and the pain is only going to get worse. And that the baby can change its activity as it grows. So everything looks good, and im way relieved. There's an added bonus to this story too...She's sending me for an ultrasound on Friday!! Just to make sure the placenta is still alright. Its kinda funny considering thats what the ultrasound lady told me to fake..haha. So hopefully this Friday we will know for sure what we're having!! Im keeping my fingers crossed that this baby will cooperate, and im not letting Norm talk to him or her until after then!! haha
After the ultrasound Friday, we're going shopping! I soooo need some new maternity pants!! Im feeling huge!! Turns out i've only gained 7lbs since I got pregnant though, it feels like sooo much more! Here's a pic on week 24.

So today, I decided to take my puppy for a walk, and went to the post office to see if my easter loot was here yet. Well when my mom said she was sending easter stuff, I assumed it would just be a nice small package. Boy, was a wrong..haha. It was a big box, full of chocolate, gummies, other candy, and a bunch of baby sleepers! And of course the day im walking is when i'd get it!! So there I am, walking down the road, with a parcel resting on my belly, trying to steady it, and trying to get my excited puppy by my side. It wasnt an easy task! haha. Rocky was being good though, and not pulling...until...we were about to cross the street, and this big dog in yard started barking, and scared Rocky. This made him jump, pulling me and the parcel down, in the middle of the street. I wasnt hurt, but it was embarassing. It was one of those moments where you get up and look around like " I hope no one saw that" hahah
Anyhow, my husband is yelling that its time for bed..so I guess I should listen..haha. I'll update when we know what we're having.
