5 and 1/2 hours!!!

You know you're sleep deprived when you're excited about getting 5 and 1/2 hours straight of sleep!! haha I woke up this morning sooo excited! Rebecca went to sleep at 12:30 last night, and I woke up at 6, and had to wake her up to eat cause I was in pain..lol.

She's growing like crazy!! I had her into the doctor Thursday and she weighs 10 pounds 9 ounces now. She has so many cute outfits that dont fit her anymore! Its so sad.

Overall she's a pretty good baby. She's just had a rough start at life with having thrush a few times now, and some yeast infections. They make her a cranky baby!! I've been reading the book "The Happiest Baby on the Block" and watched the video. And its a lifesaver! Anyone who has fussy babies, you should check these out! She's starting to lose her hair a bit on the sides! I've looked EVERYWHERE out here for some cute headbands to hide it..lol. If anyone has any suggestions of where to get some, let me know. We're going to Utah in a few weeks, so im sure I can find something there, but just in the meantime:)

So its been a few weeks since i've updated..I dont think anything too exciting has happened though...

We celebrated our 1 year anniversary a few weeks ago. We kept it pretty low key. Norm had planned on taking me for a picnic where he had proposed to me, but it was cold and rainy, so that didnt work out. Instead he made me supper, yummy Chinese, and we watched a few movies. Its crazy how fast this year went! I still havent even printed off my wedding pics! haha

Here's Norm with our yummy supper...and no I didnt eat ALL that..haha Norm likes to give me more than I can eat, so he can finish it and doesnt have to get up for seconds..lol.

I cant believe that its been 6 weeks already since Rebecca was born! You think that by now i'd be back to normal..but of course not..haha. After giving birth and everything thats gone wrong with me, it really doesnt make me wanna have more! haha. I've been in and out of the hospital regularly these past weeks. I was still in major pain, and bleeding up until this week. Turns out a piece of my placenta got left inside, and got infected. Luckily it came out on its own, but its been no fun. I've been on more drugs this past month than ever..haha. I had to go for an ultrasound to make sure everything is ok now, and it was so weird to see my uterus without a baby in there! Hopefully things will be better from here on!!

We're in Calgary for the weekend. Norm went to a football game last night, in the rain. He's crazy! But I guess he had lots of fun! I think Rebecca and I are gonna do some shopping today, and then we're going over to Diana's for a bonfire and bbq, should be fun! I love being close to family, and spending time with them! I've finally come to terms with the fact that we're not moving back to NS, and that I probably wont ever live close to my immediate family again. It was way hard to deal with, but I know that heavenly father has a plan for our little family. Honestly, when we were planning on moving back to NS, deep down, I didnt feel it was the right thing to do. But I wanted it to be, so I ignored my feelings. Then Norm got the answer that we weren't supposed to move, and I had to accept it..lol. It makes me wonder though, why he would get the answer that we should, and then that we shouldnt. But at least we got our house fixed up! haha I'm coming back to visit for 2 weeks in October though, so that'll be nice.

I should probably go shower while Becca is sleeping. I'll try to update more regularly!

I cant believe its been 1 year already!

Why I love my husband.

3 weeks ago now, there was a tragic accident in Calgary. A guy, just 20 years old, was crushed by a truck at work. I heard this and didn't think much of it, you hear sad stuff on the news all the time. Then I found out that this guy was the boyfriend of a girl I used to work with. This was someone that I had heard this girl talk about on a daily basis. Its crazy how you could say goodbye to your boyfriend or husband in the morning, thinking nothing of it, and then have them taken away from you just like that. So its made me really appreciate the time I have with my husband..and not take things for granted. So this entry is dedicated to my amazing husband!!!

Im sure if I thought somemore I could come up with more reasons...but its time to give Rebecca a bath. So thats all for now:)

The first 2 weeks of Rebecca's life!

So my little girl is an eating machine!! Its seriously all she does!! We went for her 1 week check up last week and she's up to 9 pounds 2 ounces! She's probably almost 10 pounds now if not more. Here's her at 1 week old...

We've had a pretty good 2 weeks. My mom went back last week, which was sad:( Especially since its not looking like we're gonna be moving back this fall. I am coming to visit either next month, or October though. So it wasnt as sad as it could have been! haha

Im finally starting to really feel better from having Rebecca. It had been a week since she was born, and I was still super swollen and in pain. So I went in to the doctor, and turned out that my stitches were infected. So I got some drugs for that. And then from being on antibiotics, Rebecca got a yeast infection and thrush. So now she's on drugs too. Poor baby.

Rebecca is just starting to un mix up her days and nights. For her first week she would sleep ALL day, and then wake up at like 1am and wanna party. We tried everything to keep her awake during the day!! She just likes her sleep!

So anyhow, this past weekend was a busy one for us! Norms sister Lindsay got married!! It was super nice! They got sealed in the same room we did, so it was nice to be there almost a year later. Here's a pic of her and her new husband Kyle. He's a great guy! We are so excited to have him in the family!

And here's a pic of Norm, Rebecca and I. It was funny. I was walking out of the temple with Norms grandmother, and its all quiet right. And she turns to me, and says, "you dont look like you just had a baby, you have your figure back, thats disgusting!"...loud enough for people around us to hear! haha

After all the busy wedding stuff, Sunday was Rebecca's baby blessing. I love that I have a husband that is able to listen to the spirit. It was an amazing blessing!!!

I think thats all I have to say for now. We're off to Calgary. Hannah flies back to NS tomorrow. Its been great having her around!! She's such a big help. Norms going camping from Thursday till Saturday. Im not gonna know what to do with no help! I've been so used to having people around.

The most painful, yet rewarding night of my life!

Well remember how in my last post I said I wanted my whole "Norm we need to go to the hospital" moment. Well I got it..twice..haha

So here's how my day went..lol. We got to the hospital at 8am..they checked me all out and I was still just 1cm dialated. So they incerted a string thing behind my cervix, that released a hormone to try to speed things up. They kept me there for a bit to check things, and then sent me home. They said it could take 2 or 3 days for things to happen, but that they wanted to check me every 12 hours, so I was told to come back at 9pm. We left the hospital around 12, so rather than drive the hour home, we went shopping. Norm bought me some super cute shoes! While shopping my sciatic nerve started acting up, and I was starting to have mild contractions.

Around 3 we headed over to my sister in laws place, since it was closer to the hospital than our house. I just tried to relax and get some sleep. But it wasnt happening. My contractions had started to get worse. So my mom started timing then. Once they got to be 4 mins apart and lasted 2 mins long, I woke Norm up and said lets go! On the 1/2 hour drive to the hospital I was thinking this is it! There is no way these contractions can get any worse!! haha

We got to the hospital around 5:30, and the nurse checked me. She looked at us like someone had just died, and said "im sorry sweetie, but you're only still 1 cm, you're not in active labor". My mom was ready to punch her out..haha. She argued with her saying I know my daughter, and she's in pain, she's in labour! But since I wasnt dialated they wouldnt keep me in. She gave me a shot of morphine and told me to come back the next morning at 9am. The morphine didnt do a thing for the pain! Just made me kinda drugged. The nurse told me to go home and get some sleep before the drug wore off. So we drove the hour home, and my contractions just kept getting worse.

We got home around 8, and I just couldnt get comfortable! I tried laying in bed with a heating pad, showering, walking, nothing was working. The only somewhat relief was sitting on the toilet crouched over. I finally couldnt take it anymore, the contractions were continuous, and soooooo painful. I got Norm to give me a blessing. And mins later my water broke. So at 9:15 we were headed back to the hospital.

Let me tell you, that drive back was the longest hour of my life!! I have to say that im way impressed with my husband who was able to keep calm and drive through my screaming. Half way there, I felt like I needed to push. It was sooooo hard not to! Norm knows how to deliver babies, from being a fire fighter. But there was no way I wanted to be giving birth on the side of the highway in the middle of nowhere..haha

We finally got to the hospital at about 10:15. It was like the movies. Norm went running in and grabbed a wheelchair, yelled to the front desk "the baby is comming!". And litterally went running down the hallway with me, I didnt even care that everyone was looking at me..haha.

So we get into the labour room, and had the same nurse as before. At this point I am sceaming at her that I want drugs!! She checked me, and giving me the same look like someone had died, said im sorry, its too late for drugs. You're gonna be pushing in 10mins. So from 7 till 10 I went from being 1cm to 10cms!

Once I was able to push, it was so much easier than trying not to push. I pushed for 34 mins and at 11:04pm, Rebecca May Nelson was born!! She weighed 7 pounds 13.8 ounces. She was 20 and 1/2 inches long. I have to admit that when she was first born, she wasnt that cute..haha. But now I have to say that she's the cutest baby ever! haha.

Anyhow speaking of her, she needs to be changed and fed. I'll try to update again when I can!!
