Banff Trip.

When mom was here, on Norms day off we took a day trip up to Banff. Mom had never been, and Norm and I hadnt been (beside once for my cousins concert) since our first date.
It was nice to have my mom there to take pics too!
This next pic is the same place that Norm and I had a picture taken on our first date over 4 years ago. Crazy how much changed in 4 years lol

Becca and Norm decided to do some rock climbing

Beccas first time being up close to a horse

We had a lot of fun in Banff. We did a little hike by the falls, and after that did all the shops up and down main street. I got some stuff from Rocky Mountain Soap Factory. Its so good!! And I just found out that they have a new store at the mall closest to me, this could be dangerous lol

The start of updates from the last few months.

I havent blogged in forever!!
Im in the car right now on our way back from Utah, so im hoping I can catch up on the last few months.
I feel bad that I havent blogged a lot about Sara.

So when Norm was on parental leave, he was complaining about how he didnt wanna go back to work. When he started working at the tire shop he was told that he would be moved to sales soon, he just needed to get the tire tech experience first. Well after working there for 6 months, it wasnt looking like he’d be getting into sales anytime soon.
So I started looking around for a new job for him while he was off. I came across a Sales Rep job at Calgary Honda, I told him about it, and he wasnt sure about it. So I kept looking. The next day he came up to me and said I cant stop thinking about that job, and feel like I should apply for it. I told him to go for it, what was the worst thing that could happen. So the next day he went into Honda, just planning to hand in a resume.
When he got there all the managers were in a meeting, so he said he would wait.
He waited about 30mins and they got him to fill out some paperwork, after their meeting 2 of the managers talked to him for a bit and asked if he could do an interview right then. He wasnt expecting to have an interview that day, so wasnt mentally prepared, but said sure. He was taken into a board room with 6 people sitting around a table, they asked him lots of questions, and were really impressed with his sales experience from last summer. At the end of the interview they asked him if he had any questions, and he said before he knew it he was saying “ ya, when can I start?” He doesnt know where that came from! He normally wouldnt have said anything that ballsy. But the manager said, we like that! And had him step outside for a min. He said as he was leaving he heard one manager say to the other “ I really like this guy”. When they called him back in they said, “so, can you start tomorrow?”
He had to explain that he was still employed and needed to give 2 weeks notice.
So he’s been at his new job for almost 2 months now and is loving it! Its awesome! I dont have to hear him complain anymore about hating his job. He’s doing really well too! So well that after only 5 and 1/2 weeks he was given a promotion. He’s now a leasing specialist as well as a sales representative! Im so proud of him! There’s other guys that have been there for years and havent been promoted.
And since I dont have any pics of Norm at work, hers the proud big sister taking a pic of
herself lol

I was so lucky to have Norm home for almost 3 weeks! He was such a big help. I was a little scared to be alone with the girls at first. I just had to get used to not jumping at Beccas every request right away. She adjusted pretty well too.
I was so lucky that my mom was able to come out to visit for a week!
I recovered so much quicker from Sara than I did with Becca.
So by the time my mom got here I was feeling perfectly fine, so it was nice to be able to go out a do fun stuff with her.
We got together with my cousin, his wife and kids one night. Becca loves playing with her 2nd cousins.

Here’s me and my cousins wife. She was I think 37 weeks prego in this pic. We went for a baby inside- baby outside pic.
They had a little girl, after having 2 boys. Im so excited for them!
Sara’s such a chunker that I was able to give them a bunch of stuff she’s outgrown. It was so much easier getting rid of the girls stuff knowing it was going to family, I have to admit that I was a tiny bit sad to think that I wouldnt have another little baby to wear the stuff.

Here’s a pic of Sara with my mom, I cant believe that Sara was that small! And I have to say that my mom looks pretty dang good for being a grandma!

One of those days...

I have lots to update on..but in the meantime i'll just write about my adventures today.
I feel like i've adjusted pretty well to having 2, most days I can handle it ok.
Today was a different story. Oh man, everything these girls could do to drive mommy nuts, they did.

Sara has been super fussy all day, just wants to be held.
She had 3..yes 3...blow outs!
And wont sleep.

But, Becca takes the cake today.
So she was sitting in her high chair, having some spaghetti for lunch and milk.
First, she spills her milk all over herself and the floor, so I was busy cleaning up the milk, while she was trying to get out of her highchair.
I told her she had to finish her lunch and wait for mommy to take her out.
Well..she had a different idea. She tipped the top of her high chair off, and her bowl of spaghetti went flying onto our light coloured carpet in the living room!! It was everywhere! All over the carpet, her toys, and the cupboard. AHHH! She knew right away that she did something wrong.
Right away she said, "sorry mama, sorry!!"
I went to scrubbing the carpet right away, and the red colour wasnt coming out!
The only thing I had in the house that worked to take the colour out was shout stain remover for laundry.
So once I was done cleaning it all, I sat the spray stain remover on the counter, cause Sara was screaming to be feed.
So im feeding Sara, and Becca lets out this awful im in pain scream.
I put Sara down and run, I find Becca with the shout bottle!
She sprayed it all over herself, and had just sprayed it in her eyes!
I took her running to the shower, fully clothed and rinsed her eyes out.
She hated the water in her face, but thought it was so funny that she was in shower fully clothed!

Oh, and since i've started this entry she's crushed corn flakes into the carpet...is it bed time yet??

Since posts without pics are boring, here's a few pics of my trouble makers.

Here's hoping these girls got their naughty-ness out today, and that they will be nice to me tomorrow on my birthday:)

Sara Marie Nelson

I figure I should write about my labour and delivery while its still fresh in my mind. Its amazing how quickly you forget about it once you're holding your new baby:)

So after my last post on the 25th, I was stripped again.
This time was way painful!! And as soon as she did it contractions started.
My doctor said she guessed I would go into labour within 10 hours, and that she'd see me the next morning at the hospital when she was on rounds, with a new baby.

After my appointment we went to Norms parents for a bit, while we were there my contractions started to get worse and closer together.
We came home and after about an hour I had enough, we dropped Becca off at Norms sisters and were off to the hospital.
We got to the hospital at 6:10pm and they got me a room right away. They hooked me up to all the machines to check Sara's heartbeat and my contractions.
I didnt really like the nurse I had, thankfully she was only on until 7.
She was an older lady and I could tell that she didnt believe I was in labour.
I was determined this time to not be a crazy in labour lady like last time, so I was breathing through my contractions and just trying to relax. They werent at the point where I couldnt handle them either.
The monitor showed that I was having contractions every 4 mins for about 40 seconds.
After that the nurse started to take me seriously.
After a few hours they checked my cervix, it still wasnt progressing.
So I got to go walking around the hospital for a few hours ( I even did 8 flights of stairs!).
When I was walking the contractions were painful and longer, but once I was back in the bed, they started to slow down again.
It was about 11:30 and I was ready to break down.
I was so tired of all the false labour, and being uncomfortable, and since my contractions were slowing down I was scared they were just gonna send me home.
Norm went to call his sister to say we'd probably be coming to get Becca, when my doctor came in to talk with me.
She gave me 2 options...I could either go home and come back if my contractions got worse, or she could just break my water.
She said she was concerned with sending me home, since I went so fast last time, but that it was my choice. I decided I wanted her to break my water. I just wanted to get it over with.
She said it would be about an hour before she could, since it was busy in delivery.
I was ok with that and thought that maybe i'd be able to get some sleep:)
Well..I had lots of time to try to sleep lol
Other women kept coming in at 9cms and they had to keep bumping me.
I got a few hours sleep..maybe 3..but poor Norm didnt get any. He had a little metal chair by my bed and there was no way to get comfy. ( Yet in the actual delivery room there was a nice couch, doesnt make sense to me??)
Our 1 hour wait turned into 9 hours!
Around 9am they moved me into the induction room, and broke my water.
I expected it to be painful, but didnt notice it at all.
I was still just at 4cms! So they hooked me up to the drip to get things going.
They sent me walking again..and this time my contractions got so painful I couldnt walk through them.
I went back to my bed and got them to check me again..still just slightly over 4cms! argh!
About an hour later I couldnt take it anymore, so started begging for an epidural.
They couldnt give me one until I was in my delivery room though, and they didnt have any free yet.
I decided on a shot of morphine. It didnt do anything when I was in labour with Becca, so I dont know why I thought it would work this time..lol..It didnt do a thing, except hurt really bad going in.
My contractions just kept getting worse, closer together, and longer.
The worst was hearing the drip..it would make a swishing sound, and I knew that in a few seconds I would be feeling a painful contraction! It got to the point where they seemed non stop. I was still handling it pretty well I thought,  breathing through each contraction, telling myself to relax, telling Norm I wanted to die lol
Around 12 I called in the nurse and told her she better get me a delivery room ASAP cause I was feeling like I needed to push. She checked me, said you're at 6cms, you'll be ok.
She offered me laughing gas and I had it through 2 contractions before they were finally able to move me to delivery. I didnt find it did anything for the pain either.  Just made me dizzy.
I was moved to my delivery room at 12:15. They started prepping me for my epidural, but there were 2 women waiting before me. They said it would be about 30mins before I would get it.
I think deep down I knew I wouldnt be getting it lol
When I first got to the delivery room they checked me... 6cms.
One contraction later I got her to check me again..I was 8cms.
And one more contraction..I was fighting not to push..got her to check me again..10cms ready to go!
She called my doctor in right away..first thing she says to me is " you got your epidural right?"
We had just talked about it the day before how much I didnt wanna do it natural this time!
She was mad that I didnt get it. I mean I had been there since 6pm the night before, there was no reason for it!
Anyhow, I started pushing at 12:35 and 8 mins later at 12:43 Sara Marie Nelson was born!
7lbs 3 ounces and 19 inches long!

First snuggles with Mommy
First Picture with daddy.
Norm was an amazing support! He kept encouraging me when I wanted to give up.
When im in labour I dont want to be touched or anything, just left alone.
I couldnt have my mom there this time, so I had the next best thing, my mother in law.
I'm so glad she was there. She was able to keep Norm company too when I didnt want him near me lol
Here's Wendy with Sara.

As soon as Sara was born..I was starving!!!
I felt so sick for 9 months, and it was amazing how as soon as she was born that sick feeling was gone!
I was still in my delivery bed when I sent Norm down to get me and cheeseburger and fries. It was so yummy! ha ha

Rebecca came by in the afternoon to visit. It was so cute to see her reaction to the baby.
She ran in the room and jumped up on the bed to give me a hug, then noticed the baby.
She didnt know what to think, she just kept staring at her. She was very timid, but kept saying cute baby.
Me and my girls:)
Our first family shot.
Daddy and his girls.

I came home the next day at after lunch. It was nice to be home!
I feel so good this time compared to when I had Becca!
I took a few days to relax but im pretty much back to normal now.
I even went to church on Sunday lol

I also wanted to write about how we came up with her name.
Marie is my mom's middle name, so that was easy.
We struggled with a first name, we had it narrowed down to Sara and another name.
When we went to Ontario for my grandmothers funeral my aunts threw me a baby shower.
At the baby shower we were going over different names and my aunt said that a few weeks before my grandmother passed away at lunch one day she said, " I really hope Ariel names her baby Sara". She had no idea it was one of our top ones! So after that I was pretty sure that was her name, its also one of my best friends name, so I say I named her after her:)

Sara is an amazing baby.
After Becca who screamed non stop for the first 2 years of her life, Sara is an angel lol
She hardly cries at all, only when she's hungry and sometimes when im changing her.
She is an amazing sleeper. She lets me get 3-4 hours of sleep between feedings at night.
She loves to eat. I had her weighed on last friday and she was 7lbs, then Monday when we went to the doctor she weighed 7lbs 8 ounces! I might actually get my chunky baby this time lol

Here's some pics of the first time Becca held Sara.
I love that it looks like they're smiling at each other.

Yesterday we got to meet little Mayley for the first time!
Its crazy her and Sara are 2 weeks apart and about the same size.
They look ready to fight lol
 1 week old.
We're all enjoying having Norm home with us for 2 weeks!
He's an amazing husband and father!
I am so grateful for everything he does for me everyday.
He just got a new job today, but Sara needs to eat, so i'll write all about that later.
